River Rats Raft & Kayak have been offering quality rafting for over 25 years. We pride ourselves on a safety first culture and our attention to detail.

There’s something for everyone, from a gentle grade 2 scenic raft trip suitable for participants as young as 5, through to full on grade 5 action featuring the world’s highest commercially rafted waterfall. Kayaking is available as freedom hire or a guided tour. Paddle the local lakes to a secluded beach or enjoy a hot water swim only accessible by boat.

Whether you are wanting to experience a family adventure or team building exercise, perfect for schools or conference groups, we have a range of Rafting & Kayaking options, other adventures, escape packages and more exhilarating activities in and around Rotorua to choose from.

Kaituna (Grade 5) Awesome, featuring the world’s highest commercially rafted waterfall an amazing 7m drop. Suitable for adventurous beginners try it if you dare!

Wairoa (Grade 5) Wild, full on action. This dam release river only runs selected Sundays from September to May and is the most technical of the trips we offer.

Rangitaiki (Grade 3 - 4) Adventurous, fun & Beautifully Scenic. A great trip for first timers this is a day trip from Rotorua and includes lunch.

Rangitaiki (Grade 2) A scenic trip for families or the less adventurous. Suitable for children as young as 5 years old. This is a day trip from Rotorua and includes lunch.

Tongariro (Grade 3) Fabulous scenery, fun for everyone. Based in Turangi 1 hour and 45 minutes south of Rotorua.

Kayaking Freedom hire and guided tours available on the local lakes. Join us for our guided hot pools kayak trip or go exploring on your own. All equipment and safety brief provided.

Team Building Custom made teambuilding either on or off the water, previous programs and references available on request.
