If you’re heading to Taupo or coming to Rotorua then stop at Prawn Fishing
(Only 10 min away from Taupo and 50 min away from Rotorua)

This is a great experience for the whole family.
It’s all about fishing for prawn and eating them. It also possible to feed the small prawn, play some golf or have a foot bath.

Your entrance price will include catching as many prawn you like. (There is no max. Limits and the size don’t matter at all!)

They cook them for you for free and you can eat your own catch of the day!

You can also walk around on the six hectares land of the Prawn fishing area!

If you don’t have the patience or don’t feel like fishing for Prawn, then just have an amazing lunch at Huka Prawn fishing.

There is a beautiful lookout were you can enjoy your lunch with a nice view at Waikato River.

Rotorua District Council are arranging to send a building inspector to Christchurch to assist with the huge task of assessing hundreds of buildings damaged by the recent earthquake.

Workshops will be held at the Rotorua Arts Village on 1st October 2010 for Rotorua children.

Safely back in the Bay of Plenty, the Steamers are now firmly focused on this evening ITM Cup game against Manawatu at Baypark.

Maori Affairs Minister Dr Pita Sharples will be a guest speaker at the second annual Nga Whetu Marama awards in Rotorua on September 17.

The number of people claiming benefits rose slightly last month. Social Development Minister Paula Bennett says the rise is largely attributed to winter lay-offs in areas including the Rotorua region.

After a convincing win last weekend the Netball Bay of Plenty Gold team plans to build on its defensive strength when it plays North in Tauranga on Sunday.

Nobody would have believed in June 10 1886, that the serenity enjoyed by the inhabitants of Te Wairoa would be shattered by an outpouring of the Earth's fury. Few would have dreamed as the eighth wonder of the world - the fantastic Pink and White Terraces - sparkled in the moonlight, events deep in the ground were menacingly unfolding.
Te Wairoa Village, in a valley above Lake Tarawera, was established by a Christian Missionary in 1848. It was abandoned during the land wars of the 1860's, then repopulated a few years later as the staging post to the Pink and White Terraces.
Violent and unexpected, the eruption was New Zealand's greatest natural disaster. For more than four terrifying hours, rocks, ash and boiling hot mud bombarded the peaceful village. The fiery glow in the night sky and the thunderous roar of the explosions were seen and heard as far away as Auckland. In the gloom of the day, the wreckage of the hotels and houses, and the burial of 5000 square miles of scenic countryside brought awe and dismay to rescuers. The eruption destroyed the Terraces and buried Te Wairoa and two smaller villages under hot heavy ash and mud.
More than 150 lives were lost.

Rotorua District Council has approved a total of more than $4.6m of contracts for highway re-sealing, upgrading water services, and sewage waste treatment.

A high profile Rotorua man and his son have pleaded not guilty to assault charges relating to a scuffle outside a bar on New Years Day last year.

The next big ITM match-up sees the Steamers crossing Cook Strait to play Canterbury at home on Friday.

A rare native fish has been discovered in lake Okareka. The fish, known as koaro has excited environmental scientists, after a drastic decline in the fish numbers left them fearing for the future of the species.

A 15-year-old Rotorua boy appeared in the youth court on a charge of murder yesterday. Police have withdrawn a holding charge of assault against the teenager.

Rotorua District Council and Bay of Plenty Regional Council are working together to look at the best possible gains to be made using the area's geothermal energy.

Bay of Plenty Rugby numbers have again shown an increase from the previous season. Figures released by the New Zealand Rugby Union, have shown a three percent growth in total players numbers.
